Sched detects duplicate profiles when a participant’s name and/or email address matches another profile, and one of the profiles is inactive (inactive means the participant hasn’t logged in yet).
How Duplicates Appear
Participants with potential duplicate accounts will be flagged in the directory like this:
How to Merge Duplicate Profiles
To ensure participants don’t appear twice in your event:
- Go to your Speakers, Sponsors, or Attendees tab.
- Find the profile you want to review and click Edit.
- Navigate to the Duplicates section.
- Review the suggested profiles to confirm they are duplicates.
- Check the box and click “Merge Profiles.”
⚠️ Important: Merging profiles is permanent and cannot be undone in the Control Panel.
What Happens After Merging
The system keeps the most recently updated details from each profile.
If the participant has two different email addresses, the one connected to the account they most recently logged into will be used for the final profile.
We recommend:
- Verifying the participant’s preferred email.
- Informing them which email to use when logging in moving forward.
Note About “Possible Duplicates”
Sched may flag profiles as “possible duplicates,” but this does not always mean they belong to the same person.
For example:
- A speaker and an attendee might share a similar name or reused email.
- An admin may manually create a profile, while the attendee registers separately.
👉 Always double-check before merging to avoid mistakenly combining profiles for two different people.
